Andorra-la-Vella, the wild horses

Very beautiful landscape of Andorra la Vella, capital of the Principality of Andorra, where the artist takes us in a spiral movement, from the stream in the foreground, through the two trees on the left, towards the houses on the top of the town, then towards the Romanesque bell tower of Saint-Estève, whose verticality, reinforced by the shrub on the right of the foreground, brings us back to the heart of the drawing, towards a group of horses drinking in a reservoir made of pebbles.

The more insistent treatment of the water in the stream, the mountain sides and the horses bring life and dialogue to the areas of the drawing sheet that have been left immaculate.

In a nervous and modern graphic style, with a few strokes translating the immensity of the Pyrenean mountains, Germaine Lacaze’s pen takes us on a journey in all directions in this bucolic and urban landscape.
