1908

Birth of Germaine, Marie, Françoise Lacaze, only child of Pierre-Georges Lacaze and his wife Marie-Célina Chabrès, at 30 rue de la Providence (now 30 rue Gabriel Peri), near Bordeaux, on December the 20th.

1918

The Lacaze family moved to Paris, where his father worked as a chemist and oenologist at the firm  Alexis Deleau in the Halle aux Vins.

Residence: 27, then 41, rue Monge Paris Vème.

Schooling at the primary school in the rue des Boulangers.

1920

Studied drawing and watercolour under Ernestine Cablet-Rinn, a former pupil of Madeleine Lemaire, in the former hotel of the architect Soufflot on rue de l’Estrapade in the 5th district of Paris.

Studied of the Spanish language and culture.

1921

Passed her primary leaving certificate as well as her further education certificate.

1924

Passed her primary teacher’s certificate.

1927

Entrance to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, presented by Emile Henri Renard.

1928

Obtained the top place to become a student at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in the studio of Lucien Simon, with, among others, Roger Bezombes (1913-1994), Yves Brayer (1907-1990), Jacques Despierre (1912-1995), Lucien Fontanarosa (1912-1975), Robert Humblot (1907-1962), Henry Jannot (1909-2004) and Georges Rohner (1913-2000).

Attended anatomy courses with Professor Henry Meige, as well as Art history courses with Louis Hourticq. Studied decorative architecture with Maurice Dufrène and sculpture in the studio of Claude Grange, member of the Institute.

Had to take a course of treatment at Chatel-Guyon.

1929

Obtained her drawing teacher’s diploma allowing her to teach in secondary schools (1st level), in primary schools and in higher primary schools.

Second medal of nature at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

1930

Prizewinner in Anatomy (prix Hughier), 1st medal in History of Art, 2nd medal in Perspective at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris.

Obtained the certificate of aptitude for teaching drawing in high schools and colleges (higher level). Obtained the certificate of aptitude for teaching decorative composition.
