1962

Private exhibition at the Cimaise Gallery at the Vieux-Colombier in Paris (preface by Guy Dornand).

Equipped with a solid classical training and a science of drawing which earned her many awards, this artist of Bordeaux origin shows in her paintings the characteristics one expects from her Occitan heritage: healthy sensuality, a cheerful taste for colour, warm tones, light, exaltation of the joys of life, love of nature. There is a harmony, a pre-established friendship between her and the Spanish landscape which makes each of her paintings of Castile or Navarre a success and a hymn to colour.

Guy DORNAND – Libération – 31 May 1962

1963

Private exhibition at the Galerie Mirage in Montpellier.

At the Mirage Gallery, a very remarkable set of works by Germaine Lacaze. A colourist above all, the artist wisely combines cold and warm tones, thus giving their full value to harmonies that hold us by their richness and distinction. Starting from a precise and nervous drawing, the artist leaves nothing to chance and, in her work, the surety of the composition, the pleasure of a supple, authoritative line, the opulence and refinement of the chords come together in the most surprising and effective way. Far from making any concessions, Germaine Lacaze speaks a language that is accessible to all.

1964

Group exhibition with Yvette Alde and Simone Julienne at the Mirage Gallery in Montpellier. Purchase of a drawing by the City of Paris. Trip to the USSR.

Germaine Lacaze, Yvette Alde and Simone Julienne, three painters, three temperaments expressing themselves in different ways, but none of which can be said to be “feminine”, this epithet often qualifying a soft and, let us say, rather mild  painting.

Thus Germaine Lacaze always asserts herself as a fiery colourist. No doubt she is also a draughtswoman and she gives a very good proof of this in these two ink drawings which are full of life. But if the same drawing is the basis of her paintings, if it allows the artist to build with solidity these two still lifes “Basket of apples” and “Composition with a bouquet”, it is much less apparent in other paintings where it is submerged by the abundance of colours. The range of colours is very wide. In “Les confitures” for example, or “Les jardinets”, it is an overflow of bright, vibrant colours, which Germaine Lacaze seems to have accentuated since her previous exhibition and which are the mark of the artist’s generous temperament and joy.
