In a few brushstrokes showing glances, headgears and clothes, the artist gives a humorous portrait of this Mexican couple with their baby, sitting side by side, and seemingly only one body.

The absence of the woman’s mouth, in contrast to the man’s moustache, denounces the apparent lack of voice of the latter, as suggested by the title chosen for this small painting.

Four years after his trip in 1973, the images of the people of Central America are still a source of inspiration for the artist.
