With a quick handwriting in a few touches of color, the artist makes us relive an intimate scene of a duo of Guatemalan women squatting on the ground, one breastfeeding her child, seen in profile on the left of the canvas, and the other with her head bent focused on a manual occupation, on the right.
Always wearing their black hair in braids and colorful outfits, the two women are both painted with their eyes closed. The breastfeeding of the child, treated in the same dynamic of colours and shapes, can be guessed little by little in the centre of the canvas.
Beyond the mother-child symbiosis, it is a whole Mayan world with its culture of life carried by women that the artist celebrates in his entire series of paintings dedicated to Central America.
