High landscape of Seine-et-Marne with, under the typically Brie bell tower of the Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul church of Chaumes-en-Brie, the birthplace of Couperin, painted in perspective on the top of the canvas, fields and meadows.
In the foreground, large sheaves of yellow wheat on the right, and branches of apple trees on the left share the space. A sky with pinkish clouds overhangs the whole.
The rectilinear graphics and the warm colour of the ears of wheat dominate the canvas and reinforce its verticality, softened, however, by the flowery beauty of the fruit tree branches.
This painting, with its elegiac poetry and rich palette without effects, is in keeping with the style of the great French harpsichordist whom it honours.
