Guatemalan peasants near the church

Canvas in width composed of a series of four women painted from the front, in profile and from behind, in front of male and female silhouettes rising from the left in the background and at the foot of a construction of white walls that the title suggests to us to be a church.

These four women seem to be the same, so identical do their clothes with red stripes and their black hairstyles with double braids trimmed with pieces of light fabric.

The vision of these women’s groups of Guatemalan peasant women, so faithful to their culture, far from Western individualism, moved the artist.
