On a shimmering red couch, in the painter’s studio, recognizable by a few canvases turned upside down in the upper right, a female model is lying down, her chest and legs bare, her gaze lowered on a mandolin held in her two hands.
The short, black hair held by a knot back reveals a face with red lips that we guess is smiling. A pedestal table supporting a blue vase with a plant sketch with yellow leaves inhabits the left part of the canvas vertically.
In addition to the contrast of colors between the light color of the model and her white loincloth on the red of the couch, the rectilinear environment surrounding the model is opposed to the mandorla of the couch on which the bare-breasted body of the model stands out.
