Painting of the village of Villeneuve-le-Comte and its beautiful Gothic church “Notre-Dame de la Nativité” seen from the north side, from the rue de l’Ermitage painted in perspective.
Surrounded by houses, it is the Gothic heart of the village that is represented under a luminous and cloudy spring sky that the sun can hardly pierce. In the centre, the flowering trees of a garden bear witness to the strong presence of nature in the very heart of this still unspoilt village in Seine-et-Marne, which seduced the artist right up to the end of her life, from 1937 onwards, when her parents acquired a property at 8 rue de Chanzy, on the corner of rue de Chanzy and rue Gaucher de Châtillon.
In May 2015, a commemorative plaque was affixed by the municipal council of Villeneuve-le-Comte under the impetus of its mayor, Mr. Daniel Chevalier, on the artist’s former house.
