This painting was made by Germaine Lacaze during her studies at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in the studio of Lucien Simon, who pushed his students to tackle the subjects of everyday life: bistros, metro, buses, Parisians in cafes… are then for the artist subjects taken to exercise his eye and sketch everyday life.
