The eye enjoys exploring this maze of roofs and terraces that advance towards us in successive diagonals. The famous bell tower of the Duomo in black and white marble emerges from the landscape.

This work illustrates the artist’s pleasure in tracing visions where geometric shapes and exploded perspectives pile up in several planes. Details – silhouettes in a square, cloths drying on a roof, sketches of clouds … – bring a nervous and modern touch to the drawing.
